BSAP REGIMENTAL ASSOCIATION UK: ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING AND CHRISTMAS SUNDOWNER

The UK Association AGM was to be held on 16 May, however due to various Govt. restrictions the AGM was re-scheduled for 05 December coupled with the Annual Christmas Sundowner – AGM reports were posted in the Outpost issue 103. Unfortunately with continued uncertainty in terms of Govt restrictions, which are constantly changing,  there is a feeling on committee that we will not to be able to hold the said functions on that date and intend to cancel the Sundowner and postpone the AGM. Suitable transparent arrangements will be made for the Annual Draw. During the 2020 AGM two committee members were to re-stand on rotation – Bertie Cubitt and Jim Harris. Two new members, Bruce Braes and Helen Tate, were proposed for election (resultant from resignation of Alan Toms and Betty Simpson.)   In Addition, Mike Coleman had previously advised the membership at the 2018 AGM he would be standing down as Chairman at AGM 2020 to make way for a younger member to take over the Chair.  Mike in fact stood down on 07 April 2020 at the committee meeting and Jim Harris was unanimously proposed to take his place. Mike Coleman was subsequently elected by the committee in terms of section 7(2) of the By-Laws to the vacant post of Vice Chairman. As it has not be possible to hold an AGM this year to ratify the election of committee members,  section 7(4) of the by-Laws have taken effect “Should for any reason a vacancy occur on the Committee, the Committee may appoint a Branch Member to fill such vacancy.   Such appointment shall be subject to confirmation by the Branch at the next Annual General Meeting, and if confirmed, such member shall serve the remainder of the term for which his predecessor was elected.” The AGM 2020/21 will now take place at the Victory Services Club, London on Saturday 08 May 2021 subject to or limited by any ongoing Coronavirus restrictions that may be in place at that time. 20/10/2020
